we are an emphatically unconventional kind of architecture practice.

A (brief) History

Drawing from our diverse career paths and experiences, we started Make Good with the purpose of building a better city, one project at the time. Our work is always architectural, but not limited to just making buildings–we also like to improve them, research them, and share their stories.

While our solutions aren’t always expected, they are always pragmatic, well-informed and tailored to suit the needs of their users. And underlying all of our work is a commitment to our core values of affordability, sustainability, co-creation, and the public good.

So, what do you do, exactly?

We get it. Our work spans the gamut—from buildings to films and writing, but so do our skills. Below is a list of some of our capabilities, but reach out to us to see how we can help. If it’s related to buildings, there’s a good chance we’re interested (or know someone who is).

  • Make Good is a full-service architecture practice licensed in Ontario. Our goal is to translate your spatial needs into built solutions that are not only pragmatic, but also beautiful and highly sustainable. Our past work includes residential renovations and additions, laneway housing, new builds, and commercial and institutional retrofits, as well as some more unconventional projects like landscape design. Because we are full-service, we can help you in every step along the way: from feasibility to early design, all the way to finding a contractor and ensuring what gets built is true to the design.

  • We don’t only like to design buildings, we love talking about them. Our hands-on experience as design professionals combined with our past experiences in communications makes us uniquely suited in telling the stories of the built environment. Whether it is communicating the value of a building, helping tell the story of your design process, or speaking to designers about your products, our goal is to create accurate and compelling narratives that speak to your audience and are true to your values. Past communication pieces include articles, exhibitions, cinematic film productions  and social media campaigns. Whatever format it is, we are here to help you tell your story!

  • Sometimes a project doesn’t fall neatly into a category–those might be our favourites. Whether it is designing and implementing the wayfinding strategy for an existing building to assisting in the research and documentation of our built environment, if it has to do with a building, we’re probably interested!
